Tangerine by Edward Bloor

Though legally blind, Paul Fisher can see what others cannot. He can see that his parents' constant praise of his brother, Erik, the football star, is to cover up something that is terribly wrong. But no one listens to Paul - until his family moves to Tangerine. In this Florida town, weird is normal: Lightning strikes at the same time every day, a sinkhole swallows a local school, and Paul the geek finds himself adopted into the toughest group around: the soccer team at his middle school. Maybe this new start in Tangerine will help Paul finally see the truth about his past - and will give him the courage to face up to his terrifying older brother.

This is really a good book with a surprising ending. They pack a lot of stuff into it about soccer, being new at school, family stuff, favoring one child over another, bullies, citrus fruit groves, immigration issues...wow. When I read that book, I checked out a bunch more from Edward Bloor. They are all interesting and a little on the weird and thoughtful side! When I looked him up again, he has several new ones out that look very interesting! Can't wait to read them!

It started out a little slow and I'm not a big sports fan so those parts bored me a lot. I really liked everything else, especially the ending.

This book has left me amazed. It was well-written and beautiful. All of it had described everything perfectly, making me able to see it, believe it... It was possibly the best realistic fiction I have ever read in my entire life. It filled me with joy and undisturbed peace as the story advanced. I recommend this book to anybody who loves a good Drama book and Sports.

I thought this book was really exciting and kind of a mystery. Edward Bloor, the author, gives hints to where you may be able to guess Paul's story, but when I did, I wasn't right at all.Because I like soccer, this book was also very interseting to me during the soccer parts too. I liked reading when Paul was at the Tangerine Middle School too and reading about Victor and the rest of Tangerine Middle's soccer team.

This book was really appealing. It has great imagery and a plot that makes you SQUEAL with delight. Suspense and mystery make up for any boring parts (although, in my opinion, there wasn't). I would recommend to anyone.

This book is a great book. His eysight remained a mystery troughout the entire book, which I found quite interesting. I found the end very ironic and it left me with a sense of satisfaction. I found the soccer theme very interesting.

5 out of 5 stars!

The ending was good, but the begining was a little bit too slow for me. There is a lot packed in the book which adds to the expirence when you read it. Edward Bloor has written several books that are similar to this one. All in all, I Would give this book four and a half out of five stars.

I read most of Tangerine and I love it so far.The plot is very interesting. I haven't read all of it but I will soon! Tangerine is one of my favorite B.O.B books though.

This has been my favorite of all of the BOB books I have read so far this year. Once you get about a third of the way through, you just don't want to put it down. I actually stayed up until 2:00 AM one Saturday night just to finish.

I agree with Robert and Kayla, who mentioned the foreshadowing and irony. You KNOW who the bad guys are, but you don't actually find out just HOW BAD they are until the end -- although Bloor does drop lots of hints.

I agree with Jon N., Austin, and Robert -- four 1/2 or five stars.

Tangerine is an amazing book by Edward Bloor! I loved how he mixed sports, action, mystery and excitement all in one. My favorite part of this book was the end becouse of how Paul finally is able to stand up to his brother. This book came alive in my mind as i read it. I coul feel Paul's stress his worries and his problems. Out of all sports and action books i've read this is defenitly the best of them all.

Tangerine is one of my favorite books because Edward describes the boys very well and he puts everything that shows what children are thinking. Bullying, having their parents favor one child over the other, being new at school, sports, family stuff, and immigration issues. I really felt the fear coming from the younger boy when he thought that his older brother was out to get him. Edward Bloor raps it up interesting in the end.
