Dovey Coe by Frances O'Roark Dowell

My name is Dovey Coe and I reckon it don't matter if you like me or not. I'm here to lay the record straight, to let you know them folks saying I done a terrible thing are liars. I aim to prove it, too. I hated Parnell Caraway as much as the next person, but I didn't kill him.
Twelve-year-old Dovey Coe never did like Parnell Caraway. She didn't like his slick way of wooing her older sister. She didn't like the way he maligned her beloved deaf brother. But while she didn't like him, she certainly didn't murder him. All the evidence, however, points to Dovey. Now the girl who's used to protecting everyone around her has to rely on a "city" lawyer who doesn't know goldentod from goldenroot to protect her. Dovey's not one to sit back when troubles are brewing, but just this once she might have to...or will she?

When I found this book, I thought it was the wrong one because I found it in the children's section. I read it in an hour tops. Though the book is short, the content is wonderful. I did not think I would like it, bu tonce I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.

This book is about a girl who is wrongly accused of killing the richest boy on the block, Parnell.
I loved it because it's like a mystery, only it's really funny. If you're a slow reader, this is the book for you.

This book is very good and it sounds like something I would normally read!!! This is probally the best B.O.B. book I have read. This and Tangerine. I even read this to my nephew to keep him entertained and I think he liked it because he stopped crying. This was very good and it had voice because of the way Dovey talks.

I thought this book was great. The characters are all different, and the turns were amazing. I give this book an A minus.

I liked the way that all of the characters are county people, and yet they all have so different personalities!!!4/5 stars.

Dovey Coe, in my opinion, is an okay book. I thought it was a bit of a coincidence in the fact that in both Dovey Coe and Gentle's Holler, the main character had bad grammar and disabled siblings. And the dialog drove me crazy! Bah! Who would have thought that there could be so much incorrect grammar?!?
