The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

The first novel of a new series that mixes classic Greek mythology with modern adventure. After learning he is a demigod, Percy Jackson is sent to a summer camp on Long Island, where he meets the father he never knew--Poseidon, god of the sea.

The best thing about this book is that there are more in this fabulous series. It is so much fun to read about the Pantheon of Gods in our times...love the way he explains WHY! Riordan is one of my new favorite authors!

This book interesting because it puts a twist on reality, it makes you think outside of the box, and it makes you wish you weren't "just a mortal".

The Lightning Thief is a great book from a great series. It's great for NAL because it helps you learn all the Greek gods' names without being boring. 10 out of 5 stars.

Giving a twist to Greek myths, this book (along with the other ones in the series) explains some of our "natural occurances" from the point ofsomeone who sees things differently than we do.A great book that I reccomend to all.

10 BILLION out of five stars. You can actually learn about Greek Mythology without being bored to tears. Percy Jackson is cunning and daring in this epic novel. I would recommend it to anyone, anywhere, anyhow. After I started reading it, I couldn't put it down! Rick Riordan has done it again!

This is definitely one of the best books on this school year's list. If you like modern fantasy and/or Greek mythology, THIS is the book for you. I honestly don't have much of a Greek mythology background but still found this book amazing.

Tis book gave me even more knowledge on Greek mythology. Another reason is because it the book is packed with action and adventure that leaves you wanting more. Both of these qualities make this book one of my personal favorites along with the rest of the series.

A very very good book. I cannot emphasize how well desriptive words are used. Also, the varyong sentece fluency never loses the reader into a pit of boredom. Very educational in Greek Mythology, too. I would reccomend this book to anyone. Another great thing- there are more books- its a series!
The usage of suspense also adds another brilliant factor to this awesome book. The creativity expressed by Rick Riordan makes a
GREAT way to get your imagination going. Kudos to
Rick Riordan!

This was my favorite Battle of the Books book. I like Greek mythology, and this was based on a lot of myths. This book puts a twist on reality and seriously made me wonder if the gods really existed. Soon after I read that book, I bought all the others and finished them all within two weeks.I haven't read the fifth book yet, but I really look foward to it.

The Lightning Thief and Romiette and Julio by Sharon Draper are tied for my favorite BOB book. They are both really great. I like this book because I like mythical things and greek gods. I would really like to read the reast of the series. Not many authors can really get my attention enough to read any of their other book, but Rick Riordan makes me want to read the rest of this series of the summer. From what I hear, the other books in The Lightning Thief Series are just as good as this one.
