Ashes, Ashes by Jo Treggiari This dystopic book is set on the New York state island of Manhattan.  A smallpox-like virus killed most people and the people who survived are young people and old people.  It is believed that global climate change caused the virus and water levels have risen.  People had to move out of the cities and are struggling to make it.  Complicating all this, sweepers come and kidnap people, they seem to be looking for a cure that is believed to be in someone who is immune to the disease.  Lucy has been living alone and finds a colony to stay with.  It was really good.
